SAVES Staff

	Ms. Maria Miranda has been with Miami-Dade County Public Schools for 25 years and has extensive experience as an educator and administrator. She joined the SAVES team on April 3, 2009. Ms. Miranda has a Master's degree in TESOL from Nova Southeastern University and is currently working on her doctorate degree in Educational Leadership. Ms. Miranda is passionate about adult education and committed to assisting adult learners in gaining necessary skills that will prepare them for their transition into the workforce. 	Georges Legerme has a Master's degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from Nova Southeastern University . He has been with Miami-Dade County Public Schools since 1983, teaching ESOL to adult and elementary students. He is working now as an educational specialist for SAVES. 	Marie Philogene teaches and works for the SAVES program at D.A. Dorsey and in the District Office. She has been in the school system for over 13 years. Marie has a Bachelor's degree in Communications and a Master's degree in Hospitality Management from Florida International University, and a certificate in school administration from St. Thomas University. 	Carlos Baena has a Master's degree in TESOL, and he brings to his position extensive experience working with adult refugees and asylees in education. 	Lawrence Ress comes with an impressive background that includes Elementary Education, Vocational Training, GED and Community Affairs. He speaks Spanish and has traveled extensively throughout Latin America and Europe . He is very proud of his ESOL Specialist Degree from the University of Miami . 	Magda R. Orta earned a Master’s of Science with a major in Educational Leadership from Barry University , and she holds a Bachelor’s of Music Education from the University of Miami . She has over 30 years experience as an educator for the Miami-Dade County Public Schools. Magda has been hosting the SAVES radio program on Radio Mambí since 2001. 	Dr. Alex Borbolla earned a Doctorate from Havana University. He has a Master’s degree in TESOL from Nova Southeastern University and a Master’s in Spanish from the University of Miami. 	Amanda Jones is the Senior Secretary for the SAVES Program. She has been working in the Miami-Dade County Public School system for over twelve years.
