At this school, approximately 24 youngsters 16 to 18 years old receive services from S.A.VE.S., and the Cuban National Council. The students receive services in a college bound positive environment, in which they feel welcome, can socialize with other students their age and have their language and academic needs met. The students are self-contained in a fast track GED, ESOL program in technology enriched classrooms. Mr. Ruiz visited the classroom and was very inquisitive about the experience and services the students receive and their plans after completing the program. The students indicated that they plan to pursue a college education. He was very impressed with the program and encouraged S.A.V.E.S. to create centers like this one in other schools in Miami-Dade County.
