Ms. Maria Miranda, SAVES Instructional Supervisor

Ms. Maria Miranda has been with Miami-Dade County Public Schools for 29 years and has extensive experience as an educator and administrator. She worked as a teacher and assistant principal in Miami-Dade County Public Schools prior to joining the SAVES team on April 3, 2009. Ms. Miranda has a Masters Degree in TESOL from Nova Southeastern University and is certified in Educational Leadership.

Ms. Miranda is passionate about adult education and committed to assisting adult learners in gaining necessary skills that will prepare them for their transition into the workforce. Ms. Miranda has been able to create and implement a wide range of initiatives and establish a culture of collaboration that has yielded very positive results.

Ms. Martha Jimenez was born in Colombia and is a product of Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) Adult Education Programs. She has been working with (M-DCPS) for 20 years and has extensive experience in Adult Education and Vocational Programs. Ms. Jimenez held a wide range of positions at Hialeah Miami-Lakes Adult and Community Education Center (HML) prior to being promoted to Registrar/Principal Secretary. In July 2012 she started working as Senior Secretary for the SAVES Program.

Ms. Jimenez has extensive experience and expertise in several computer programs, applications and data base, scheduling, registration, attendance, testing, purchasing, finance, and payroll.

Dr. Felicia Gil worked for Miami-Dade County Public Schools for 39 years and has extensive experience as a school principal and administrator in several positions at the District level, including the Office of Accountability and System-wide Performance from where she retired as Administrative Director. She joined the SAVES team on November 4, 2010. Dr. Gil has a Doctor’s Degree in Public Administration from Nova Southeastern University and is certified in Educational Leadership.

Dr. Gil is committed to excellence utilizing a systematic approach to provide outstanding customer service to achieve desired goals. She is excited to work in assisting new entrants to the United States to achieve the American dream.

Mr. Julio Iglesias has been with Miami-Dade County Public Schools for over ten years and has extensive experience working with refugees and asylees. He joined the SAVES team in January 2011. Mr. Iglesias has a Bachelor’s Degree in Science. He also works at Miami Dade College where he teaches Math and English.

Mr. Iglesias is very knowledgeable about adult/vocational programs and serves as a resource to the field. His attention to details makes him a very valuable resource to his coworkers.

Mr. David Del Terzo works as a Sr. Programmer Analyst II and is responsible for data input and reporting. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from Florida International University and has been working in the school system for more than 15 years.

Mr. Del Terzo is very knowledgeable about coding of web-enabled applications and provides training and technical support. He is very creative and has implemented innovative data collection strategies to facilitate collection of data from the SAVES schools and the use of the data warehouse.

Ms. Adrienne Givens works as a Data Input Specialist and specializes in the coordination of follow up efforts related to placement reporting. She has been with M-DCPS for 23 years. Ms. Givens provides school site support on VACS technical issues and acts as a troubleshooter.

She does extensive research, involving state statutes, board rules, and curriculum frameworks. She works very closely with SAVES schools.

Ms. Sheria M. Goodman works as an Accounting Specialist for the SAVES Program. She has been with M-DCPS for over 15 years. She is very knowledgeable about budget and billing procedures. She works with the 14 SAVES schools to ensure that the accounting procedures are adhered to.

Ms. Goodman enjoys assisting the schools and helping refugees and asylees accomplish their educational goals.

Alnerys Ferro is a former student who worked her way to becoming a Spanish teacher with Miami-Dade County Public Schools. Ms. Ferro also has a Master’s Degree in Communications. Alnerys Ferro is currently working as a SAVES Coordinator at Robert Morgan Vocational and Technical Center.

Ms. Ferro’s experience as a SAVES client gives her the ability to connect with students at a human level, and her experience as a teacher provides her with the knowledge to guide them through their studies in their effort to resettle successfully in South Florida.

Marie Philogene works for the SAVES program at D.A. Dorsey Educational Center. She has been in the school system for over 17 years. Ms. Philogene has a Bachelor's Degree in Communications and a Master's degree in Hospitality Management from Florida International University, and a Certificate in School Administration from St. Thomas University.

Ms. Philogene works closely with the Haitian community and hosts a program on Radio Mega in Haitian Creole.
